Is Health Care a Commodity, or a basic Human Right? with Poll

by: jamess

Mon Sep 07, 2009 at 16:40:17 PM EDT

Well according to this former HMO Medical Director, she traded Necessary Patients Care, for Career Advancement and a 6-figure Salary:

Linda Peeno MD, testifies

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Question: Are the Patients, who are Denied Care, to save the Insurance Companies Money -- DO those Patients have a RIGHT to their Health Care?

Or are Those Patients simply a Commodity -- a "Cost Center" -- that must be constantly constrained?

by: jamess

Doctor Linda Peeno, a renown expert in the field of "Managed Care", explains to Congress the dirty little secrets behind the Business of Health Care Denial:

THE REAL DEATH PANELS: Insurance Companies That Deny Care

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Linda Peeno, M.D.

In the spring of 1987, as a Physician, I denied a man a necessary operation, that would have saved his life. And thus caused his death. And I'm haunted by the thousands of pieces of paper, on which I have written that deadly word: Denied.

We did NOT Vote for Triggers -- We DID Vote for ...

by: jamess

Fri Sep 04, 2009 at 18:39:07 PM EDT

Barack Obama , Feb 19, 2008
Well, The System's Broken [...] Certainly I don't accept, in the richest county on Earth, that we should have 47 Million people without Health Insurance, and Millions of more people being bankrupted because of a Medical Bill.
[...]
As President of the United States, what I've proposed to do, is to make sure that we got a plan that covers ALL Americans.
[...]
The key to making this happen, is to overcome the resistance we're going to see from Drug Companies, Insurance Companies, HMO's. Over the last 10 years alone, Drug and Insurance Companies spent over $1 Billion, in preventing Health Care Reform from happening. That's going to require then, a mobilization of energy among the American People, to insist on a Congress and a White House, that are actually going to deliver this time.

WWJD about Health Care? aka. Where are the Good Samaritans?

by: jamess

Sun Aug 30, 2009 at 16:13:34 PM EDT

What would Jesus Do about Health Care?

Good Question.

Well it sounds, like he understood how Sick People need Doctors:

Mark 2:17 GWT

When Jesus heard that, he said to them, "Healthy people don't need a doctor; those who are sick do. I've come to call sinners, not people who think they have God's approval."

(emphasis added)

GOP Health Care Obstructionists, are you Listening???

The Pharisees, thought they were doing God's work too.

Imagine their surprise when this upstart Carpenter, from the old neighborhood, dared to stand up to their blatant self-righteousness ... and dish back to them some cold, hard truth ...

Progressive Anthony Weiner calls for "The End" of Publicly Run Medicare

by: jamess

Fri Jul 31, 2009 at 01:31:39 AM EDT

(a nice put up or shut up move... - promoted by poligirl)

as reported on Rachel Maddow's Thursday show:

Congressman Weiner's bluff-calling, put-up-or-shut-up amendment to the House health care bill (H.R. 3200):

Really Republicans, don't like Publicly run Health Care?
Would you care to put your Vote where your rhetoric is,
to eliminate a very successful Public Health Care Program -- Medicare?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

So what happened?

Will Medicare be relegated to the "junk heap of history" as another "failed idea" of the Liberal Agenda? ... well in a word, HARDLY!

Public School Competition hasn't Undercut Private Schools ...

How to Stop Socialized Health Care
Five arguments Republicans must make.
By KARL ROVE - Wall Street Journal - JUNE 11, 2009

If Democrats enact a public-option health-insurance program, America is on the way to becoming a European-style welfare state. To prevent this from happening, there are five arguments Republicans must make.

The first is it's unnecessary. ...
But 1,300 companies sell health insurance plans. That's competition enough.

Second, a public option will undercut private insurers and pass the tab to taxpayers and health providers just as it does in existing government-run programs. ...

Third, government-run health insurance would crater the private insurance market, forcing most Americans onto the government plan. ...

Fourth, the public option is far too expensive. ...

Fifth, the public option puts government firmly in the middle of the relationship between patients and their doctors. ...

Link to this WSJ screed.

Oh pity the poor little Private Insurers -- they'll just wilt in the face of any Competition from the big bad Public Option!

Poor Babies --  WAAAAAAHHH!

Private vs Public Options -- What's the Difference?

by: jamess

Sun Jun 14, 2009 at 15:33:04 PM EDT

(a great analogy... - promoted by poligirl)

Private vs. Public Schools: What's the Difference?

Your goal is to find a school that will meet your child's needs. But how do you choose between a public school and a private school?

[... interesting list of Pros and Cons ...]

The Bottom Line

There are a few fundamental differences between public and private schools, but here's the bottom line: There are great private schools and there are great public schools. The trick is finding the school that best fits your child's needs. You may also want to consider public charter schools or homeschooling. It's a good idea to research the schools that interest you and, to get a true picture of the school, visit in person.

Has Competition from Public Education "killed" the thriving Industry of Private Education?

Hardly!

Neither will Competition from a Public Option in Health Care, "kill" the thriving Industry of Private Insurance -- assuming they actually have a Product, that People are willing to pay for!

and if they don't ...?

The Party of NO, is Fighting for the Status Quo

by: jamess

Sat Jun 13, 2009 at 19:24:33 PM EDT

(ahhh - the Party of No... - promoted by poligirl)

In case you haven't noticed, there is a Talking Point War, developing around the "validity" of the Public Option.

There is very much at stake in this inevitable War of Words -- not least of which is YOUR Future Health, Wealth, and peace of mind.

Of course, the forces of the Status Quo, will do everything within their Financial Power, to convince you that a non-profit "Public Option" in Health Care -- is against your best interests!  That it is anti-American! ... That a Public Option is somehow an "inferior" product.  (says who, btw?)

Just don't buy what their selling, because really it's someone else's "best interests" that those Talking Point warriors, really have in mind:

Beware of Big Business' next "Bait and Switch"!

(Whether it be some amorphous "co-op" idea, or some other shiny object, like promising to finally "play nicely now".)

Stop the "Run-Away" Obstructionists -- Vote D on the Down Ticket

by: jamess

Thu Oct 23, 2008 at 10:18:40 AM EDT

(the down tickets are soooo important!!! - promoted by poligirl)

It is SO Important to pay attention to Down Ticket races, if we really want to put America on a New Track.

Even though Democrats won a slim majority in the House and Senate in 2006, the GOP has been able to block most of the New legislation that the Democrats have been authoring on behalf of the American People.

The Republican Strategy for the last 2 years, "Run against the Do-Nothing Congress in 2008".

How?   By blocking nearly every Bill from Passing in the Senate, under the pretext of Debate, otherwise known as the Filibuster.

Source: Secretary of the Senate

As this chart shows, never have so many filibusters been threatened as in the first session of the 110th Congress. In just the first year, Republicans filibustered more legislation, and required more cloture votes to break those filibusters, than in any Congress in recent history.
