Getting Started

How do I change my password?

In the Menu section in the upper right hand corner, go to (your username's) Page.

In the tabs on your page, click on Profile.

Underneath Profile, click on Email & Password.

There you can change your password. You'll have to enter your current password and then enter your new password twice and click Save.

How do I embed a video?

At YouTube, you can pull the code for embedding the videos either from the Menu bar in the lower right hand of the video window or, if you're at YouTube.com itself, from the section near the top of the right hand column. Just copy the embed code and paste it where you need it.

Here at Progressive Blue, you can use videos in diaries or comments.

How do I add tags to a diary?

There is a field underneath where you enter the title for your diary called tags. You just type in the tags you want to use, separating them by commas.

You can use tags to add your diaries to our subject pages. For more information, click here.

How do I post a photo?

In flickr, click the picture and then click the link that allows you to see "all sizes".  On that page, there is a text box  with the heading "To link to this photo on other websites you can either:
1. Copy and paste this HTML into your webpage:
**THERE IS A TEXTBOX HERE**
2. Grab the photo's URL:
**THERE IS A TEXTBOX HERE**

Cut and paste the text out of the upper textbox.  It's the one that is much longer, and, you'll see your picture in the comment when you preview it and post it.

If you are using Photobucket, just look down the page to the third option, "HTML Code: Websites and Blogs".  Just click the code and it will automatically copy it for you.  When you past it into the comment, your image will be seen (in preview and when posted).

YouTube vidoes (3.00 / 3)
I see that YouTube vids can be embedded in diaries - are they also "embed-able" into comments?

If so, would this be using the code "as is" from the YouTube website, or does it require a different format?

excellent question! given that we all became (3.00 / 4)
pretty heavy video users during the original EENR diaries, this is pretty important stuff to understand.

At YouTube, you can pull the code for embedding the videos either from the Menu bar in the lower right hand of the video window or, if you're at YouTube.com itself, from the section near the top of the right hand column.

Here at EENR, you can use videos in diaries or comments like this:

that's all I needed to know. (3.00 / 6)
some places (like the original JEFP 08 blog) didn't allow embedding directly -- remember the ((youtube 36ete3gd298)) links? :)

The code is so much easier to use, and I was hoping (erg, that word!) that such would be the case here. Thanks for the confirmation!

How do you change a password? (3.00 / 3)
I keep trying to remember the computer assigned password but would like something more memorable.  I've 'looked everywhere' and can't seem to find out how to do it.

I would like to know the answer to this also.

Tags... is it in front of my face or where do you put (3.00 / 3)
them?  I posted a diary sort of as a trial run and couldn't find how to do this.

TIA!

Wind it up baby!

Tags... (3.00 / 1)
Yes, I wrote a diary and chose a section title Environment & Science (which shows up as a tag).

Now I spent some time on the list of tags  and would like to add some existing tags

environment (6)
wind power (2)
Regulation (1)
solar power (1)
alternative energy (1)

and a new couple
decentralization
electricity

Hmm, checking the guidelines, all I turned up this message on the FAQs.

I recommended the first question and posted my own.

I'm so old, I remember Pete Stark's bank with a peace sign on it!

You can type in any tags you want. (0.00 / 0)
They will show up in our all tags list, even if they don't show up elsewhere. If a tag gets used frequently, we might consider adding it to our Subjects list at the bottom of the right hand sidebar.

Suggestion-- How about linking (3.00 / 3)

Wouldn't it be better to go in media places?

What does it mean to put something on my "hotlist"? (3.00 / 3)

It's like adding it to favorites. (3.00 / 1)
If you look on the menu in the upper right-hand corner, there is a link that says Hot List. All you're hot listed diaries go here. It just makes it easy to find them.

So here's my lesson, and thanks Newzie! (3.00 / 1)
I used photobucket and opted to bulk upload photos into albums, using the option of uploading to web/email.

When the upload is complete, select a photo and click the HTML button,it automatically copies.  Go to eenr or other blog (why would you? just kidding)...and click paste into  your comment/diary.  The pic will show during the preview but in draft form shows as html.

My pic above, which is actually disgusting at this size, was uploaded incorrectly.  If you use the html under options to upload your photos, it gives  you the right size, which I am now practicing!

Thanks so much, and I hope this helps others!
